Following two relatively streamlined releases for Kompakt including 2016's COW, Chill Out, World, the closest they've come to producing a purely ambient album, the Orb decided to make a more ambitious, diverse, collaboration-heavy album in the spirit of some of their earlier works. The album was released on 22 June 2018 via Cooking Vinyl. The Orb have long made a virtue out of following their own path, and there are still times in No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds where this pays dividends, but there are also sections where they merely retread old ground with diminishing returns, making this an only half-satisfying LP. The Orb are back with a new album that tears their reality at the seams. Lately their music has become more streamlined, in large part due to the input of longtime affiliate Thomas Fehlmann, and its recent label home, Kompakt, who handled 2016's COW, Chill Out, World and the previous year's Moonbuilding 2703 AD.
