One of the best albums of the decade. Deeply emotional, full of nuances and details. The best work of Goldfrapp, much higher than what came next. The bonus disc features different versions but pretty much as the originals. Once attuned to this album, it might take you a long trip. Worth every penny.

I agree with most of what you said, hence the agree vote. Where we differ is with what came next. Personally I think Black Cherry is awesome. Different vibe than Felt Mountain but just as good. Can't complain about her remaining releases.

This pressing has one virtue: it taught me to read the comments before I purchase. Sounds horrible, low level which compels to turn up the volume to essentially hear unusual surface noise.

Skip this and get the European pressing. Returned my RSD copy and did just that. Better quality all around and a heavyweight pressing (with accurate reproduction of the original labels, unlike this one). I'm over these rush-released Record Store Day "exclusives." All hype and rarely high quality due to the overburdening of pressing plants. Goldfrapp had NO idea this was even coming out (tellingly released through BMG) but thankfully were able to rectify the poor quality control with the Mute version. Oh, and if you're concerned about collecting a "limited edition" version that will rise in value over time - don't be. 4000 copies for a 15-year-old reissue by completely niche artist (in the US) on vinyl is a LOT, especially with an equivalent, higher quality version also on the market.

I had the same problems as many of you here with my copy. I wrote to Mute about them and they forwarded the email to BMG. One week later I received another copy without any issues. I suggest you do the same.

Well my copy is slightly wraped but that did not affect it though - and its thickness is equal, and there is no hissing as well, I've played it almost 5 times now with attentive listening on a high volume level and it plays perfectly. I guess I am extremely lucky

Is your copy perfectly flat? My first one was severely warped at the edges and of uneven thickness. The second is not perfectly flat (you can see the arm slightly waving up and down especially towards the middle, not at the edges) but the warping - or rather the uneven thickness - is gradual and doesn't affect play. Surface noise is high in terms of hiss on both copies, but no crackle or pops on either copy. There is a repetitive thumping noise on both copies for some seconds at the beginning of side A.

I did the same via e-mail. (Contacted Mute) they didn't press it, but forwarded on my complaint to BMG. BMG contracted me the next day. They just asked for my address and 1 week later, I got a much better press. only one dimple each side and they're only audible with the volume over 3. They were entirely friendly and attentive throughout the communication. If yer copy has the pressing issue, the above worked great for me. A surprisingly positive resolution for all involved.Aside: I've got a great copy for sale. A measly 250 bucks.I'm totally kidding. Hanging onto it. I can't bum someone else out like that. Because I'm not a sociopath.

2392/4000 here. I'm not too happy with the pressing. There is quite a bit of surface noise and there are a few visible dimples in the vinyl as well, although only one of them can actually be heard when the record is playing. Side one is quite clean, there is almost no deadwax and the last few grooves of the last song do have some 'run-out groove crackle'. Side two is not clean, crackle throughout the first two songs and at the end of the last song.

Yep. Mine's pitted too. All three copies my local store got had the same problem. However, some good news. I sent Mute an email about the issue and they were kind enough to forward it on to BMG (Manufacturer) and they offered to send me a replacement gratis. I suggest y'all with the bad pressing do the same. They should be aware of this crapola.I will say both Mute and BMG were prompt and friendly throughout.

Great album, crummy pressing...well my copy at least. Quite a lot of surface noise throughout, and very audible "dimples" on both sides.An album with meticulous production and a great deal of quiet/spare passages deserves a nice clean pressing...it's a shame to find that a CD or MP3 of this album will sound better than the vinyl :(
