Her younger sister Bianca on the other hand, does not have the same reputation, and two men are vying for her hand. The two suitors are Hortensio and Gremio, and Baptista has not given either man his consent to marry Bianca until Katherina is wed. The play concludes with all marveling at how brilliantly Petruchio has tamed his shrew. Ay, the woman's maid of the house. Third Servant. Why, sir, you know no house nor no such maid, Nor no such men as you have reckon'd up, As Stephen Sly and did John Naps of Greece And Peter Turph and Henry Pimpernell And twenty more such names and men as these Whi. Love and marriage are the concerns of Shakespeares The Taming of the Shrew. Lucentios marriage to Bianca is prompted by his idealized love of an apparently ideal woman. Petruchios wooing of Katherine, however, is free of idealism. Petruchio takes money from Biancas suitors to woo her, since Katherine must marry before her sister by her fathers decree he also arranges the dowry with her father. Petruchio is then ready to marry Katherine, even against her will. Katherine, the shrew of the plays title, certainly acts much changed. But have she and Petruchio learned to love each other Or i.
