Short intro
History Revisited: The Remixes is a 1991 album comprising remixes of hit Talk Talk songs. It followed the successful greatest hits collection Natural History, released the year before. The band itself did not take part in the making of the album and condemned its release consequently, they sued their former record label EMI for using Talk Talk material without permission. History Revisited: The Remixes. Critic Score. An unauthorized, by the group, bunch of remixes to promote further the Natural History collection. Or consider a donation More Albums. Natural History: The Very Best of Talk Talk 1990. The Colour Of Spring 1986. The Party's Over 1982. Talk Talk. Thankfully, the remixes on Talk Talk's History Revisted didn't undergo any of these sonic mutilations. Everything is intact and the sound is crisp, dynamic, and vibrant. When you're listening and find yourself moving to the music at least rhythmically nodding, you know something's right. The high quality of this release may be due to the fact that back in '91 excessive dynamic limiting and compression were not as prevalent as it is now. Supposedly, these remixes were made and released without the consent of the band itself. The band was understandably ups. Talk Talk sued the record label for falsely attributing the material to them and for unpaid royalties and won the court case in 1992. Subsequently, the release was deleted and has never been reissued. Not one for Talk Talk purists as, vocals aside, there's often very little left of the original track as recorded. The standout is perhaps Happiness Is Easy, unsurprisingly as that is the sole track to have been remixed by members of the band. Released as a companion piece to the hits collection Natural History, History Revisited compiles mainly new remixes of the band's best-known, pre-experimental output. Only the dub mix of Happiness Is Easy had been released before - the rest were done without the band's involvement, and the band reportedly tried to block the album's release. Talk Talk's brand of synth-pop lends itself quite well to this sort of treatment, so the collection works quite well, although there aren't many surprises.
