Released: May 2014. Label: Okeh. Is this where you should start with Rollins Of course not: Go to Saxophone Colossus or A Night at the Village Vanguard for that. But if you love jazz enough to know those albums already, do make time for this live-recording compilation. The first two cuts here are pedestrian, but the new tune Patanjali builds a nice head of steam. And Solo Sonny - one of those extended cadenzas for which he's justly famed - is a thrill. Rollins trades fours with the drummer for a long, rewarding. Road Shows Volume Three is vintage Sonny Rollins featuring the artist at the top of his game. It repays repeated listening with fresh discoveries of this saxophone master's creativity. I couldn't ask for anything more. This sonorous, sublime and soaring third album in the Road Show series of saxophonist Sonny Rollins, accompanied by seasoned and sympathetic musicians, is a real treat and illustrates the old adage: The older the violin in this case the older the tenor saxophone the sweeter the music. Sonny's creativity and mastery is unmatched, unchained and unbelievable. Road Shows Volume 3. Okeh . More Than You Know. Road Shows Vol 1. Keep Hold of Yourself. Road Shows Vol. 4: Holding The Stage.
