Short intro

Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust is the fifth full-length studio album by the Icelandic post-rock band Sigur Rós, released on 23 June 2008. All the lyrics for the album were originally intended to be in English, but in the end the band decided that Icelandic felt more natural to them. Some lyrics were translated back into Icelandic, while some songs got completely new texts. It is the band's first album to feature a track sung in English All Alright. The first track on the album, Gobbledigook. With their fifth full-length album, Med Sud I Eyrum Vid Spilum Endalaust translated as With a Buzz in Our Ears We Play Endlessly, Sigur Rós have taken the poppy, sunshiny leanings of their previous album a step further into the light. And certainly, about half of Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust translation: With a buzz in our ears we play endlessly constitutes a much-needed change of direction for Sigur Rós. Building on the gains made from 2005's transitional Takk, they deliver plenty of moments where they sound more spirited, looser, almost playful. The unifying element in these instances is brevity from the tumbling, modest solo acoustic ballad Illgresi to the celebratory Við spilum endalaust, some of the band's best songs come when they consciously confine themselves. In the near-decade since their 1999 breakthrough Ágætis Byrjun, Iceland's Sigur Rós have made pathos their playground. For them, little is scarcely an option: Instead, they've built a career out of conjuring God-sized renderings of sorrow, fragility, and teary joy, rarely on a scale anything less than epic. They've done this instinctively and automatically, sometimes to the detriment of their compositions, leaving the impression that the songs are secondary vessels for spectacle. Góðan daginn. If you have playability issues with this LP: Clean it, clean it, and when you think it's clean, clean it again. If you have a friend or local record shop with an ultrasonic record cleaner, avail yourself of it.Out of the package, my A/B looked visually fine, but A had insane surface noise and B was super-distorted and had skips halfway through Festival (when it gets loud). C/D were fine but a little poppy and clicky. After repeated, aggressive cleaning, all four sides now sound excellent. Also be sure to clean your stylus if you've played without extensive cleaning, because whatever got all over these records at pressing will get dug out and build up on your stylus extremely quickly.

I agree with most of the other comments. Right away I noticed distortion on side A. Some songs are worse than others. I definitely do not get pops or clicks, but there is definitely some distortion going on. I played with the eq settings a little, and it seems the bass level is the culprit.

No issues with my pressing, actually sounds great. Beautiful album too.

Not pop, not clicks..great sound but don't forget to clean your stylus because a simple dust can give a saturated and distorted sound on this vinyl !! Nice first pressing !

My copy is terrible sounding. Distorted and full of surface noise, pops and clicks.

Mine sounds superb.

I am only experiencing some clicking on Fljótavík and some dynamic parts are more bassy, but I don't have the best speakers for vinyl quality. Some old juke box with no eq settings

You guys, this record was manufactured by United Record Pressing. That's why it's distorted and full of noise.

I'm not experiencing skips, but there's a bit of crackle throughout and some of the more dynamic parts get a bit distorted. I'm unsure if it's just the pressing or a dirty record (though I have played it only once, so it shouldn't be this bad.

The one of these that I play is absolutely terrible. All songs on side A skip virtually all the way through. Unlistenable, whether or not this is a widespread problem with this pressing, I do not know.

Fljótavík sounds awful on this pressing. The strings sound distorted during the strong moments. Lots of vinyl noise and clicks through the album too. Disappointing.
