Rival Schools: United by Fate is a 3D fighting game developed by Capcom, released in arcades in 1997 and ported to the Playstation in 1998. It focuses on a large cast of students and teachers from various schools duking it out in their fight for justice. It is the first game in the Rival Schools series and it takes place in 1997 Japan, the same year this game was released. United by Fate was followed by a sequel, Project Justice. Rival Schools was: Walter Schreifels- Vocals, Guitar Ian Love- Guitar Cache Tolman- Bass Sam Siegler- Drums. Rival Schools is a band comprised of members from influential underground bands, mostly from the New York hardcore scene. However, Rival Schools fits more into the alt-rock genre instead of the hardcore genre. Of course, since all of the members draw from the New York hardcore scene, the influence is obviously there. United by Fate isn't a terrible record if you're a fan of late-90's alterna-rock. The guitars build and crash, the drums and bass provide a muscular backdrop, and Walter's vocals are melodic without sounding like the guy took singing lessons. Yet, despite all Schreifels' promises that the band would lead him in a new direction, United by Fate sounds a hell of a lot like the first Quicksand record, only a tad more melodic and not nearly as tight. Worse, the rampant energy of Quicksand's best records is entirely absent, replaced with a sort of synthetic studio energ
