Short intro

Penny Lang. Stone Sand Sea Sky. Released in Canada and the United States in 2006, Stone Sand Sea Sky is Penny Lang's first album since 1999 and the Canadian folk veteran's first studio recording since suffering a stroke in 2000 when she was 58. Some singers who survived strokes have been forced to give up singing for good, but thankfully, Lang recovered enough to record again and provide a meaningful album. This excellent CD points to the fact that although Lang who turned 64 in 2006 is folk-oriented, she has plenty of other influences as well. Album 2006 13 Songs. StoneSandSeaSky Penny Lang. Stone Sand Sea Sky is Penny s first studio album in over 6 years following the critically-acclaimed indie release Somebody Else. It follows the Juno-nominated Gather Honey, released on Borealis in 2001, a retrospective of the years 1963 to 1978. Go Unlimited. don't miss this opportunity. This is an absolutely beautiful album, by a lady with a gorgeous, earthy, deeply expressive voice. Penny is an excellent song writer herself, but she has for the most part gone with well-chosen covers for this album. Read more. Vive La Rose. Emile Benoit. Penny Lang: StoneSandSeaSky. Penny is one of my musical heroes - she can sing the blues, she can sing old Scottish songs, heck she could sing the phone book and I'd sit at her feet and lap it up. This album, produced by Roma Baran, is a gem. Oliver Schroer: Hymns and Hers. I miss Oliver, but I am grateful to have basked even a little bit in the glow of his incredible spirit and creativity
