Short intro
In January, 1971, two Neil Young solo acoustic concerts were recorded in Massey Hall in Toronto. These recordings have long been known to serious fans as having been highly esteemed by the few who heard them. There was even a fallout between Young and producer David Briggs when Young wouldn't listen to the tapes at the time, while on the booklet of this CD, his manager Elliot Roberts is quoted as calling the contents the best show Neil ever played. Neil Young is the self-titled debut studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young following his departure from Buffalo Springfield in 1968, issued on Reprise Records. Some sources place the album's release date on January 22, 1969, while other sources have the release date as Young's 23rd birthday, November 12, 1968. It was then partially remixed and re-released in November 1969, but at no time has the album ever charted on the Billboard 200. Neil Young wrote songs at such a frantic pace in mid-1970s that he couldn't possibly release them all, even though he was averaging an album a year. This gentle love ballad was cut during the sessions for Homegrown, an LP he canned in favor of Tonight's the Night, itself an album that had been sitting on the shelf for over a year. Out of Control. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's 1999 reunion album Looking Forward is an infinitely forgettable effort and really just an excuse to launch a big-money reunion tour, but the LP did give us Out of Control. The song was a regular highlight of Young's acoustic tour earlier that year, and it didn't much benefit from the CSNY treatment. Neils longtime producer, David Briggs, wanted Neil to release this live album which contained mostly brand new unrecordedunreleased songs at that time back in 1971 but instead Neil shelved it and went to Nashville to record Harvest, which became his first number one album and first number one single, Heart of Gold on the charts and the biggest album of. Neil Young Goin' Back: In a foreign land There were creatures at play Running hand in hand Needing no where to stay Dri. I feel like goin' back Back where there's nowhere to stay When fire filled the sky I'll still remember that day These rocks I'm climbin' down Have already left the ground Careening through space. I used to build these buildings I used to walk next to you Their shadows tore us apart And now we do what we do Driven to the mountains high Sunken in the cities deep Livin' in our sleep. I feel like goin' back Back where there's nowhere to stay. Submit Corrections. Thanks to steve for correcting these lyricsRelated to Neil Young - Goin' Back To Canada
