Christie was born Lugee Alfredo Giovanni Sacco on February 19, 1943, in Glenwillard, Pennsylvania, and grew up in suburban Pittsburgh. While attending Moon Area High School, he studied music and voice, served as student conductor of the choir and sang solos at holiday concerts. After a two-year stint in the military, Lou Christie returned to the pop charts in 1966 with his cinematic masterpiece Lightnin' Strikes. In response, his former label, Roulette, assembled Lou Christie Strikes Again, 12 odds and ends compiled from the singer's brief tenure with the company.
