Jackson Browne Saturate Before Using. Jackson Browne. Jackson Browne is the eponymous debut album of singer Jackson Browne released in 1972. It peaked on the Billboard 200 chart at number 53. Two singles were released with Doctor, My Eyes peaking at number 8 on the Pop Singles chart and Rock Me on the Water reaching number 48. Browne had been having minor success as a songwriter but was still unable to obtain his own recording contract. He sent a demo of Jamaica Say You Will to David Geffen in early 1970 and Geffen began looking for a record deal. This album introduces Jackson Browne and his world of self-examination, endless speculation, and dreamy ruminations about the world at large according to Jackson as he sees it. And of course, he sees it with remarkable aplomb, set to beautiful lyrics and intricate melodies, through a palpable prism of the experience of both love and pain. People may talk about Late For the Sky or Running On Empty, but Jackson Browne's career starts right here with Saturate Before Using. In this, his first album, Browne proves to be a mellow musician, but an imaginitve and thoughtful writer.
