Sci-Fi Crimes is the fifth studio album released by Chevelle on August 31, 2009 through Epic Records. The album was recorded in Nashville, TN with producer Brian Virtue. Sci-Fi Crimes was recorded live in the studio as a band, without the use of samples and without tuning. Jars became the first single from the album and was released on June 23, 2009, followed by Letter from a Thief on December 7, 2009 and Shameful Metaphors on July 13, 2010. Chevelle - Sci-Fi Crimes review: Sci-Fi Crimes isn't anything mind-blowing, but still has its hooks and lures. Unpredictability is fascinating. The reason for this clarification is that Chevelle is not unpredictable. The only times that surprised me were the nice changes of pace that the album underwent in some parts the focal point of Fell Into Your Shoes is a nice, catchy riff that only Chevelle could pull off, and Highland's Apparition completely devours the band's two previous acoustic songs, One Lonely Visitor and Bend the Brac.
