Big Youth toasts over many classic rhythms, although as was usual by now, most have been so stripped down that they can be difficult to recognize. The exuberantly bouncy Skyjuice, for example, employs John Holt's Sister Big Stuff, and was also used by Dennis Alcapone for his hit Teach the Children. Another much recycled rhythm, the Paragons' Only a Smile, here is re-created as Dread Inna Babylon. Album 1982 14 Songs. Dread In a Babylon. 3: Chanting Dread Inna Fine Style is a 1983 compilation of singles tracks released by Big Youth on his Negusa Nagast label dating back as far as 1973 Street In Africa. Not in the sense that you'd expect to hear in Hindu or Gregorian chants, but in a spoken flow. Analogy time: If speed walking waschantingthen walking would bespeaking and running would besinging. This is more like speed walking chanting. The music is pretty good and Big Youth has a positive way about passing his message along. I recommend him highly for a change of pace.
