She was the first to record Leiber and Stoller's Hound Dog, in 1952, which became her biggest hit, staying seven weeks at number one on the Billboard R&B chart in 1953 and selling almost two million copies. I was not fammiliar with Big Mama Thornton as Blues singer, but to my surprise I was extremely empressed with this entire CD. From the first track I'm Feeling Alright to the last Big Mama's Blues My Love,is non stop Blues album which knocked me off of my feet.
