This lush musical landscape, Alvin Curran's first multi-media solo work, intertwines singing and synthesizer, drones and overtones, bells, gamelans, and sounds of nature-a unique tapestry of sound that eloquently introduces a fanciful and original American composer. Provided to YouTube by The Orchard Enterprises. At the same time, it harked back to a simpler time in e-music, when loops, echo, and feedback were the primary recording tools. While this is a unique and original recording, it has definite echoes of the mid-'60s work of Terry Riley, Pauline Oliveros, and Steve Reich. Curran uses the available technology to manipulate his music and sounds. The chants have overtone and harmonic singing qualities. This is a good disc and a fun disc.
