He began his career in musical theatre, and has since starred in television dramas such as Be Strong, Geum-soon 2005, Capital Scandal 2007, and Hong Gil-dong 2008, as well as the films Rough Cut 2008 and My Girlfriend Is an Agent 2009. In July 2019, Kang was arrested over sexual assault allegations. Investigation is still ongoing. Kang Tae Hwan is a Korean free-jazz saxophone player. An extraordinary saxophone player, Hwan is one of the grandfathers of the Korean musical avant-garde after the late taepyongsohojok player Kim Seok Chul, with whom he collaborated. The Kang Tae Hwan trio active from circa 1978 to 2004 combined a cosmpolitan openness with traditional Korean shamanism, touring outside Korea and working alongside Western musicians.
