Short intro

The Parvarim Hebrew: הפרברים, haparvarim, lit: The Suburbs is an Israeli band that was first formed in 1960. The band was originally founded by the duo Nissim Menachem 19382016 and Yossi Khoury. For a brief while they were joined by Jimmy Siman Tov who joined in 1965 but left after six months. In 1977, Menachem became religious and left the group, he was replaced by Uri Harpaz. Even though the song selection is strong, the album winds up as less than the sum of its parts - each song is pretty great of its own accord even the single mix of the B-side Sweetest Thing, which is, in truth, not much different at all, but the overall effect is a little underwhelming. On one hand, it may be a good choice for casual fans or nostalgia mongers, since it does contain everything they need to hear, but anyone who has more than a passing interest in the band will be better suited with individual albums. Lightning Bolts seventh album may indeed be its friendliest in relative terms, of course with the singsongy melodies and endearing sense of humor that have always been lurking beneath the tumult creeping ever closer to the surface. Carly Rae Jepsen, Dedicated She may never again ascend to the commercial heights of Call Me Maybe, or capture the culty zeitgeist of Emotion, but Jepsen proved she still has plenty left to offer with this endlessly effervescent wine spritzer of an album.
