Short intro

Record, sometimes referred as Record: The Best of Zero 7, is a compilation album by British musical duo Zero 7, released on 28 June 2010. The compilation contains material from the duo's first four studio albums. The deluxe version includes a second disc featuring remixes by such producers as J Dilla, Justus Köhncke and Joker. Lily Moayeri of Under the Radar said the album is all the Zero 7 anyone could ask for-all killer, no filler. Pitchfork Media's Jess Harvell wrote that the best-of format. RECORD - Zero 7. The first disc of Record might be the most instantly forgettable greatest hits compilation I've ever heard. Even for the world of downtempo, that's saying something. Because hell, I once owned a copy of The Very Best of Morcheeba, but even that was enlivened for a few seconds by a brief appearance from an elderly Big Daddy Kane. No such luck here. Even hip-hop's senior citizens would be too energetic to fit comfortably on a Zero 7 album. After all, downtempo's whole point was to facilitate relaxation. I just can't stand most of the track in which SIa is singing, this is the very exact type of pseudo 'black soul' vocals that have really become cliché and are tiresome on many Broken Beat, Trip-Hop or Downtempo release. She sounds like her mellow 'cool' come from years of practice rather than an authentic nature and it probaly is so, now I don't want to say that she is a bad singer and hasn't mastered her art but such singing style is as boring as what is today erroneously called 'R&B', it's attempting to feel soothing to a point that it paradoxically only works on nerves, well in my case and trust me I love it when any lady sings the blues. That said, I could understand that some people may fancy her voice but to me it just sound so prefab, like wanting so much to feel soulful it only reminds me that soul istelf most probably doesn't exist. So I often feel or do skip the songs with Sia on vocals and focus instead on stand-out instrumentals such as the amazing 'Polaris' and interesting remixes.
I clearly stated in my first comment that her voice does nothing to me, simply because it sounds very prepared, it's obviously a question of taste and certainly only a subjective observation. Also, suggesting to an intersectional feminist of being a 'little racist' (while I think that racism is wrong in all proportions) for using the term 'black soul' when I simply was using the term as a reference to what everyone around called 'black music' since I a child and so to its style appropriation felt a little inappropriate. Now If you truly wish to get more if my stand or feelings (or maybe are just making an attempt to chat with me) please proceed by compensating for my time online after messaging me privately, which I bet you'll never do. So farewell.
Dang, guess I'll have to remain curious what you thought of Breathe Me.
You would note that I've put between quotation marks and what I wanted to convey has nothing to do with racism but the fact that this caucasian singer -does- (attempt to) immitate soul music singers (which facts usually were black) and also because I just doubt in the existance of the soul. I shouldn't answer any additional question, as you read well I don't like her singing style, it's unoriginal, cliché, tacky and boring even in an hair-dressing salon. Pretending to find my stand interesting from what you wrote seems a little but hypocritical. Glad some like you enjoy her ways.
Interesting opinion for 2017. I loved Sia with Zero 7, seeing her live with them in 2004 was an amazing show. To say her style was pseudo black soul seems a little racist. Did you feel like her song "Breathe Me" was good?
