Youth Choir was part of a group of Christian alternative rock bands, primarily based out of Orange County, California, that got their start under the aegis of Calvary Chapel. While bands like Altar Boys, Undercover and Crumbacher were blatantly evangelical in their approach, Youth Choir's lyrics were more measured and subtle-even questioning-and this. Wounds of a Young Heart, Someone's Calling, and A Million Years are all great little pop tunes that rely much too heavily on a drum machine - a shame, since Hindalong is a truly amazing drummer. Voices In Shadows is the first studio album by Christian alternative band Youth Choir. It was released in 1984 by Broken Records. This album pursues a more British New Wave style of music such as U2. The band was not fully pleased with their debut album Voices in the Shadows due to the drums being provided by a drum machine, which was a trademark sound found in the 80s in fact, the only song on this album that features a real drum sound is 15 Doors.
