Black Is the Color is an album by American saxophonist Joe Henderson, released in 1972 on Milestone. The original idea for the album was to approach it entirely from the standpoint of having no pre-conceived ideas i. melodies, themes, bar lines, etc. for the musicians to relate to. However, after listening to a tape copy of one segment of the original session, the saxophonist became aware of further possibilities. Black Roots are a roots reggae band from the St. Paul's area of Bristol, England, formed in 1979. They toured extensively in the UK and Europe in the 1980s and early 1990s releasing several albums and singles during that time before disappearing from the music scene for about ten years. Their comeback began when SoundicateMakasound, a record label in France, released an album in 2004 and followed it up with another in 2007 both were compilations made up from their extensive back catalogue. Black Is the Color of My True Love's Hair Roud 3103 is a traditional ballad folk song first known in the US in the Appalachian Mountains but originating from Scotland, as attributed to the reference to the Clyde in the song's lyrics. The musicologist Alan Lomax supported this Scottish origin, saying that the song was an American re-make of British materials.
