Short intro
The Yes Album is the third studio album by English progressive rock band Yes, released on 19 February 1971 by Atlantic Records. It was the band's first album to feature guitarist Steve Howe, who replaced Peter Banks in 1970, as well as their last to feature keyboardist Tony Kaye until 1983's 90125. The album was the first by the band not to feature any cover versions of songs. The band spent mid-1970 writing and rehearsing new material at a farmhouse at Romansleigh, Devon, and the new songs were. Recorded in London in 1971 for the BBC In Concert series which ran on BBC Radio 1. Released in February 1971, their third album, The Yes Album peaked at number 4 in the UK and number 40 on the US Billboard 200 charts. This is reportedly one of the last concerts featuring Tony Kaye as keyboard player, being replaced by Rick Wakeman shortly after. The rest, as they say is history and a second incarnation of Yes was formed in 1983, but thats a whole different chapter, and largely a whole different band. The Yes Album is a music studio album recording by YES Symphonic ProgProgressive Rock released in 1971 on cd, lp, vinyl andor cassette. This is the first truly essential Yes album, wherein all the masterful elements that would later typify the Yes sound were magnificently present. Every tune except possibly A Venture is excellent, and many later concert favourites are here. Tons of classics here still played in concert nowadays but the real gift here is the Howe guitars battling the organs of Kaye and unfortunately this is the only place you will hear that in Yes. Their third time out proved the charm - The Yes Album constituted a de facto second debut, introducing the sound that would carry them forward across the next decade or more. Gone are any covers of outside material, the group now working off of its own music from the ground upRelated to Yes - In Concert 1971
