Short intro
I do not own the copyright to this recording so if it needs to be removed, I will remove it. If you like this album please buy it for the full experience Caravan, known first as Soul Caravan and later as simply Xhol, was one of the first bands participating in the launch of the Krautrock movement in Germany in the late 1960s. Their music draws from varied influences and fuses rhythm and blues and free jazz with a psychedelic rock sensibility. The band was formed in Wiesbaden, Germany in early 1967 by three Germans Tim Belbe on saxophone Hansi Fischer on saxophone & flute Klaus Briest on bass guitar and three Americans. They started out as the R&B combo Soul Caravan, but by the time of Electrip, the group renamed Xhol Caravan had opened up their minds for a much more bizarre mix of jazz and progressive psychedelic rock. Electrip, one of the earliest Krautrock albums, contains high-energy, drug-induced freakouts and acid jams with wailing, electrified sax-riffs swirling organ tones an electrified flute many electronic and other effects and intense rhythm funk grooves. This particular album opens up with the flush of a toilet , and then quickly blasts into some psychey jazz-rock. I own the lovely vinyl re-issue with the first five tracks only, and they jam really hard. The dominating sounds are sax and organ and, the spirit in which the music is delivered, sounds like a cross between early Hawkwind relentless jamming and the psychedelic jazz-rock of early Soft Machine. Fans of these styles, and not to forget 'Krautrock', should b. Electrip is a music album by Xhol Caravan released in 1969.
