Ride On Wooden Shjips, long-time leaders of the contemporary psychedelic movement, expand their sound with V. The quartet of Omar Ahsanuddin, Dusty Jermier, Nash Whalen and Ripley Johnson augment their already rich sound with laid back, classic summer songs. The songs were written during the summer of 2017 by singer and guitarist Ripley Johnson as an antidote to the pervasive anxiety both political and natural. Each song shimmers with a distinctly Wooden Shjips sound, a relaxed summer vibe. This was a. Contact Wooden Shjips on Messenger. From my experience, records that come with surface noise are probably full of pressing release chemicals.Dont rush and buy again, just use a good liquid to clean and play the record so that the stylus can break down the chemical film.Repeat any wet cleaning method more frequently. If the vinyl does not have any scratches and the surface seems ok then it is almost certain that the distortion and ticks you hear are because of the chemicals

The 5th album from these San Francisco masters of psychedelic dreamland continues on the path of their brilliant 2013 release “Back To Land”. The songs bask in a generally subtle, smooth flow—almost jazzy at times. But the mindset is pure tripped-out bliss. Ripley Johnson’s guitar is heavenly, dreamy—a fluid, otherworldly rocketship floating through the universe on a leisurely voyage to nirvana. It hints at artists like Tom Verlaine, Mike Bloomfield, Bill Nelson, Mick Hutchinson, John Cippolina, Guy Blakeslee. The keyboards and Krautrock-tinged rhythms recall Johnson’s poppier band, Moon Duo. There are similarities to bands such as Psychic Ills, The Black Angels, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Velvet Underground, Spacemen 3, Suicide. “V” rises like a kaleidoscopic peacock on magical wings, extending a visionary optimism to starry-eyed dreamers and seekers of audio euphoria. Recommended.

Ordered the red edition from Thrill Jockey, it shipped from their London distributor. Nice looking package, and fabulous music, but record is slightly warped, and the sound quality and pressing is very poor. Lots of surface noise and clicks, low audio level, muffled sound overall (like listening to a 4th generation cassette copy from the 80's). Feel like I have wasted my money. Not recommended.

Just got my copy of the 'butter' edition in the post, but on checking to see what colour it is, it's actually purple. Anybody else got one of these? Is this actually the 'lavender butter' edition, and if so why is that version described here as blue/white swirl? (Haven't had a chance to check the pressing quality etc yet but will report back later.)

Check the listings, it appears there is a limited lavender release of around 100 copies!

Hmm yes, looks like there might've been a cock-up at the pressing plant. Though I do like the purple colour myself. My copy has a bit of noise on the right hand channel during track A1, not serious but vaguely annoying, and a loud-ish pop midway through track B2, but other than that it's a decent pressing. Not amazing, but not bad either. Love the actual music, though.

My copy has just arrived, 'butter edition' on a stick on label but it is definitely a purple berry colour! Is this a diluted press of the red opague or a stand alone purple colour? can anyone who has the red opague release please add an image to help confirm? Cheers

Warning: the black vinyl version has the same printed-on-sleeve barcode as the red version, so if you want red, the seller needs to check the color or verify there's a sticker on the shrink indicating it is red.
