Weddings, Parties, Anything. were an Australian folk rock band formed in 1984 in Melbourne and continuing until 1999. Their name came from The Clash song Revolution Rock and musicologist Billy Pinnell described their first album as the best Australian rock debut since Skyhooks' Living in the '70s. The band was led by Mick Thomas, the only continual member throughout the group's history. The single Father's Day was nominated for Single of the Year as well as winning Song of the Year at the 1993. Album 1988 11 Songs. More By Weddings Parties Anything. King Tide. They Were Better Live Live At the Central Club. The Big Don't Argue picks up where Roaring Days left off. Actually, it is more of the same. And, in fact, that is the main problem with this release. Even though they were working with a new producer and a new guitarist, the band did not seem to progress much from Roaring Days, and it almost seems that the responsibility of writing the entire album was a little too much for Mike Thomas. This is not to say that this album is not great, because it is in fact a wonderful album. The Big Don't Argue is the third studio album released by Australian rock band Weddings Parties Anything. The album was produced by Jim Dickinson, who had worked with Big Star and the Rolling Stones. It was based on a passage in Robert Hughes The Fatal Shore. This is an Australian traditional folk song updated by Weddings Parties Anything for their The Big Don't Argue album. It tells the tale of legendary bushranger Ben Hall who terrorised New South Wales in the mid 1800's until his shooting death at the hands of police in 1865.
