Auden an excellent poet in his own right reads a piece of Elizabethan verse which had been set to music, and then the Pro Musica Antiqua sings the same piece, and they alternate reading and singing for the entire album. It's a wonderful album, recorded in 1954. The recording technique is not up to modern standards, and it is monaural. It was also released on tape cassette in the early 1970s, but was never released on CD. It is still an excellent listen - fans of Auden will love it, and fans of Elizabethan musical inventiveness and skill with words will love it. Read more. One pers. Yeats - W.
