Short intro
Vishal Bhardwaj born 4 August 1965 is an Indian film director, screenwriter, producer, music composer and playback singer. He is known for his work in Hindi cinema, and is the recipient of seven National Film Awards in four categories. Bhardwaj made his debut as a music composer with the children's film Abhay The Fearless 1995, and received wider recognition with his compositions in Gulzar's Maachis 1996. He received the Filmfare RD Burman Award for New Music Talent for the latter. He went on. Haider makes two major departures from Shakespeare - both dealing with the women in HamletHaiders life. By choosing to combine Hamlets best friend, Horatio and love Ophelia in Arshia and making her a journalist playing an active role in Haiders life, Bharadwaj has made her a woman of substance. Eschewing the Nunnery scene however, detracted from the poignancy of Arshias suicide even while the unravelling red wool presented a powerful symbol of things falling apart. Vishal Bhardwajs Haider, a loose adaptation of Hamlet, takes place in Kashmir during the turbulent 1990s and has become one of the most contentious Bollywood films of the year. NEW DELHI - The Bollywood director Vishal Bhardwaj has made his name by adapting Shakespeare into film, using the plays to reflect the violence and vicissitudes of modern India. Maqbool, an adaptation of Macbeth, was set in the Mumbai underworld Omkara transported Othello to the feudal badlands of northern India. Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj spoke about his music label and his collaboration with Gulzar. Director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj says he always dreamt of owning a record label dedicated to non-film music and Gulzars Dhoop Aane Do , a poem about hope amid the coronavirus pandemic, helped him realise it. Bhardwaj loved the poem and during a walk he started thinking of lending a tune to those words. Vishal Bhardwajs trilogy of films based on William Shakespeares plays, 'Maqbool' 'Macbeth', 'Omkara' 'Othello' and 'Haider' 'Hamlet' have won plenty of critical acclaim. Thats not all they have also earned him the tag of being one of the foremost creative minds, adept at making Shakespeare thrive with contemporary India as the backdrop. Now, the filmmaker is all set to make the first film in his trilogy of comedies based on the Bards plays. In an exclusive conversation with BT, Vishal said, For a long time now, I have been. Vishal Bhardwaj on Haider, how he nearly reimagined Hamlet as an espionage thriller, composing songs at airports and learning how to tell a story without words. Haider is your third adaption of a Shakespearean tragedy, after Maqbool and Omkara. Where does Shakespeare end and Vishal Bhardwaj take over I dont really know how to answer this. Haider is an extension of what I have attempted in Maqbool and Omkara. Haider doesnt begin like he Shakespeare begins his play. Ive turned his third act into the first act. Summary: Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', Haider - a young man returns home to Kashmir on receiving news of his father's disappearance. Not only does he learn that security forces have detained his father for harboring militants, but that his mother is in a relationship with his very own uncle. Intense drama follows between mother and son as both struggle to come to terms with news of his father's death. Soon Haider learns that his uncle is responsible for the gruesome murder, what follows is his journey to avenge his father's d. Of course, I picked Vishal Bhardwajs Shakespeare adaptations and watched Haider again. Bhardwaj is a master of adapting literature and changing it while remaining true to the soul of the story, and his reimaginings of Macbeth Maqbool , Othello Omkara and Hamlet Haider are all brilliant. But I think Haider is his masterpiece, because of the utter brilliance of his juxtaposition of a pressing political and humanitarian problem the treatment of Kashmir with the gripping family tragedy of Hamlet. It works beautifully and the acting, cinematography, and every other thingRelated to Vishal Bhardwaj, Gulzar, Faiz Ahmed Faiz - Haider (An Adaption Of William Shakespeare's "Hamlet")
