But brightly glowing sparks still burn today, either in newly formed dance bands or in the continuation of some of the old, classic organizations. And that's what this album is all about-some of the great bands that have survived the shifting fancies of the public's taste are represented here, while comparatively new aggregations are on hand to show how by adapting to the newer instrumental and rhythmic trends they can still contribute the fun and excitement of big-band sound to the contemporary musical scene.
