XL Recordings were right on the cutting edge to release this compilation in 1991, just at the right moment to celebrate what had become a brand new sound emanating from Belgium and Holland. New Beat was too slow and had died. It did not make commercial sense in the UK. XL Recordings Chapters was a musical compilation series which showcased tracks from the XL Recordings record label. Also, other notable breakbeat hardcore, house and techno tracks, XL's output at the time, were featured from other labels. XL released these compilations between 1990 and 1995.
