The second volume in the Soul from the Cities series culls a dozen tracks from one of the best soul labels in Chicago's history Brunswick and adds four songs from Chi-Sound Records. Except for two tracks Young Holt Unlimited's Soulful Strut, Gene Chandler's Rainbow '80, these aren't necessarily the biggest soul hits to come out of the Windy City. Greatest Hits, Volume II is the second greatest hits album by the American rock band Chicago, and its fifteenth album overall, released in 1981. Following the poor reception of 1980's Chicago XIV, Columbia Records dropped Chicago from its roster and cancelled a lucrative contract that had recently been signed. While the band had begun its association with David Foster and was in the process of building a new identity, Columbia had contractual obligations for a new release. Therefore, the label wanted.
