This record is exactly the same as the 1970 release. In fact it is the 1970 release, old stock item. There never was a reissue.
I'm glad you asked these questions and hope this answers them. I know it's old original stock because I've been the label's distributor since 1973. It became dormant in the CD years. Five or six years ago, when the value of LPs had become evident, I called up the owner of Mamlish, Don Kent. He'd long been out of business, but was willing to sell all the stock he had remaining. I've got several titles up for sale. Some left over from the '70s and some that I got from Don Kent. New records can remain in storage for 50 years, it happens. Some people don't throw stuff away. If every physical aspect of a record is the same then it is...........the same record! You know, if it quacks like a duck....... Most stores returned nearly all their LPs to make room for CDs. They didn't think it was important to stock obscure blues compilations. Even if the label had sold out its small initial run, the demand was never enough to justify a little "for the love of it" label spending the money to reprint some minimum amount of jackets and press more discs. I should ask, why does it "look like a reissue?" Do you have one?
how do you know or what do you mean... maybe they used the same stampers but does look like a reissue to me, sounds a bit crazy to think it was sitting somehwere for almost 50 years
