Album 1997 20 Songs. In the stage adaptation of The Lion King, John and Rices works are arranged to nod more explicitly to the musicals African setting South African composer Lebo Ms contributions, which include the triumphant One by One and a gently funky take on The Lion Sleeps Tonight, further ground it in its milieu. The Lion King is Broadways third longest-running show in its history and the highest grossing Broadway production of all time, having grossed more than 1 billion in ticket sales. As well as running on Broadway and in Londons West End at the Lyceum Theatre, the show has been performed worldwide in eight different languages and on every continent except Antartica. Some songs, such as Endless Night , were directly influenced by the album Rhythm of the Pride Lands which was released in 1995 as a sort-of sequel to the original movie The Lion Kings soundtrack.
