Short intro

The Next Four Years is the second studio album by the American rock band United Nations. The album was released on July 15, 2014, through Temporary Residence Limited. Prior to the release of The Next Four Years, United Nations released Serious Business and Meanwhile on Main Street for online streaming. While the album was released in more traditional formats, The Next Four Years was meant to be experienced as a boxed set. The boxed-set version was limited to 1,000 copies that were hand-assembled. Music For Changing Parties Originally conceived as a frenetic side-project founded by members of Thursday, Glassjaw and Converge, United Nations membership and ideology have evolved into a full-time flagship for incendiary chaos. Includes unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more. Purchasable with gift card. Temporary Residence. United Nations are a complicated semi-lark that Geoff Rickly, former lead singer of Thursday, has kept going in some form or another since 2005. The project's always practiced warfare via confusion, and their latest album is structured around the band's fake mythology musically, though, The Next Four Years moves like a piece of fine engineering-all curved lines, no wind resistance. The Next Four Years is no different. Where previous United Nations releases saw Rickly's emo-grind vision filtered through the creative lenses of his contemporaries, the line up behind The Next Four Years is just as caught up in the zeitgeist of the current heavy music scene as it is influenced by Rickly's time in Thursday. The result is an instantly familiar record. While there are moments where United Nations initial emo-violence claim hold true, especially in the rabid Orchid worship of Fuck The Future, for the most part The Next Four Years is nothing more than what Rickly has been giving us, in one variation or another, for the last 15 years. United Nations may or may not be a band that featured members of some of my favourite acts ever. To hear that there was a group out there that featured musicians from Thursday, Glassjaw, and Converge sounds like something that could change the face of the post-hardcore world forever
