In a way, Awake also sounds like Trash Talk inadvertently confronting critics who accuse them of putting more into their live show than their records. To be honest, this is still a fair critique to make, though for how much longer remains to be seen. It is unfortunate, but on Awake Trash Talks sense of omnidirectional anger seems somewhat muted. Cynics might argue that it was inevitable that fame would cause Trash Talks fury to begin to subside and might cause them to craft a more accessible sound to sell out , no matter how arbitrary that insult is. Shame is a 2009 compilation album of various earlier albums, EPs, and singles by the Sacramento hardcore punk band Trash Talk released specifically for release in United Kingdom. It collates onto two discs their 2006 debut full-length Walking Disease, their 2007 Plagues EP, their eponymous 2008 sophomore full-length, and their 2009 East of Eden single, featuring Keith Morris of The Circle Jerks and formerly Black Flag. Despite their wall of noise, Trash Talk work best in miniature. The Sacramento quartet and OFF tourmates wield such an in-your-personal-space presence and messy, spastic forward push that it can be hard, as a viewer or listener, to give them back the energy they deserve. The group's 10-song, 17-minute 2010 third album, Eyes & Nines, was good their new, five-song, nine-minute Awake EP is great. Not all of this has to do with leaving-you-wanting-more brevity: The band, led by playfully but effectively violent, wall-climbing vocalist Lee Spielman, are finding more ways to cram hooks and distinctive details into what, in the past, followed a more specific punk template
