Having always had the original CD single for this re-issue I didn't own the picture disc until recently, yet in nearly 30 years I never seen anyone mention this....Honey Honey on the picture disc is not the version on other formats (or at least the CD single). The CD single version is more acoustic and ends on Honey Honey Sweet Babyyyy, with a synth chord until the fade. The picture disc version is more bassy and beaty throughout and less acoustic, and ends up on the same lyric, but keeps going with a drum beat until fade which other versions (CD single) does not have.Having now Wav'd both and beat matched them, the difference is obvious, but that's the first I ever knew there were other versions of Honey Honey. simply going by running time doesn't show there is different version as they aren't listed as such and the timing isn't 100% identical on both tracks to notice a difference in time. Thought I'd add that as a point of interest as for the last 30 years I been listening to one version never realising there was another and nowhere in all that time had any mention of the 2 tracks being different ever cropped up. The CD single version I always knew is also the same as was put on Pop Art expanded edition, so I guess this is what everyone just assumed was the track on the single. The pic disc version appears fairly unique to where the other version crops up.
After all of those years...finally there is someone else being aware of the other "honey honey" version. I have this other version on the 12" of revolution baby (TVVT 4). After so many re-releases and compilations they still did not manage to add this other version to any cd release. when Edsel released their huge cd/book collection "i want your love" i was hoping for the missing tracks. but they were not released. so I contacted Edsel asking them about the missing tracks and this is what they replied to me: quote For contractual reasons, we were not able to license a number of tracks from the rights holders. It is up to the rights holders whether they grant us the licensing rights and in this case, some tracks were denied. unquote. the skyway stomp demo would be great as a release...and the intro-version of saturn5 and that other version of honey honey. and i read about a "more for your money mix" of i want your love...how long do we have to wait until they release everything thats left of TVV.
