Short intro

It Ain't Me Babe is the debut studio album by the American rock band the Turtles. It was released in October 1965 on White Whale Records. Prior to recording, the band members required written permission from their parents due to being underage. Included on the album is original work from the band's high school performing days and their own interpretations of popular songs from other musicians. The most successful track It Ain't Me Babe reached 8 on the national charts. It Ain't Me Babe is The Turtles first studio album from 1965. Written by Bob Dylan, the album contained 3 other songs which Dylan composed. That genial opening number led into their overwrought, almost folk-punk reinterpretation of It Was a Very Good Year, which showed audiences to expect the unexpected from this sextet - and in case anyone missed that point, the almost garage-punk style of Your Maw Said You Cried which trod onto Paul Revere & the Raiders territory brought it home in high amplification. This bare bones set has the original mono album and then copies the set in stereo which for the most part splits the vocals into one speaker and much of the backing instrumentation in the other. The P. Sloan song Eve of Destruction which was a protest hit for Barry McGuire is here. Sloan, sometimes compared to songwriter Jimmy Webb, also penned the Turtles hit Let Me Be that shines here. Howard Kaylan's A Walk in the Sun shines well on the disc
