Short intro
Cube E: Live in Holland is an album by the Residents released on November 8, 1994 by Restless Records as an audio CD. Although not videotaped in its entirety, the project called The History of American Music in 3 E-Z Pieces was recorded almost in entirety and released as Cube-E: Live in Holland. The project featured the progression from cowboy songs and slave songs to their ultimate melding into rock and roll. The first two parts, Buckaroo Blues and Black Barry, had previously been released together. In 1990, the Residents took their grand examination of rock & roll on the road, touring the world with the Cube E tour. The first half found the group reciting cowboy poems to a soundtrack influenced more by Copland and Orff than country & western, then followed with a group of blues, field hollers, and warped jazz that represented the African-American experience. Cube-E The History of American Music in 3 E-Z Pieces was the third live performance tour by The Residents, beginning in November 1987 and continuing until November 1990. A conceptual performance trilogy focusing on the group's recurring theme of the history of American music, Cube-E is comprised of various performance pieces the group had been working on since 1987 including Buckaroo Blues, Black Barry, and a suite of tracks derived from the group's album of Elvis Presley covers The King & Eye.
