Natural Anthem On November 25th, in perfect harmony with the release of the new Postal Service documentary, Everything Will Change, we will be reissuing the single LP version of this classic album, which has been created using the 10th-anniversary remastered tapes. Give Up is the only studio album by American indie band The Postal Service, released on February 18, 2003, through Sub Pop Records. The band began as a side project between electronic music artist Jimmy Tamborello and Death Cab for Cutie's vocalist Ben Gibbard. The two had previously worked together for a track on Dntel's album Life Is Full of Possibilities. Already assured a place on the best of 2003 cd list, The Postal Services first album Give Up, and the group themselves, have experienced a sudden almost startling rising success. Theyve deftly shaken-up America like a gentle, buzzing electrical storm, sending out wonderfully harmonic, wake up world tones from seemingly everyones stereos. The Postal Service's only album stands as an indietronic masterpiece and one of the best albums of the Up is, to date, The Postal Services only album. Accompanying this was a 15-minute mini-concertdocumentary. Give Up Q&A. Featuring Jen Wood. Producers Chris Walla & Jimmy Tamborello. Writers Benjamin Gibbard. Accordion Jimmy Tamborello. Посмотреть сведения об участниках альбома, рецензии, композиции и приобрести альбом CD от Give Up на Postal Service's lone album has proved surprisingly influential, casting a long shadow over the 2000s. Not only did it show up in films and on television- Garden State, Greys Anatomy, . but its songs were covered regularly by a wide range of artists, from Ben Folds to metal act Confide to a ska act called Tip the Van. By not recording a follow-up, the Postal Service never had to strike that impossible balance again- they left it up to Owl City, Hellogoodbye, and too many other imitators to carry the synthpop banner. The Postal Service's dubious legacy often obscures the fact that Give Up is only a good album, not a great one. Instead of covering that EP's territory again, with this album the duo crafts a poppier, new wave-inflected sound that recalls Tamborello's work with Figurine more than Dntel's lovely subtlety. However, Ben Gibbard's famously bittersweet vocals and sharp, sensitive lyrics imbue Give Up with more emotional heft than you might expect from a synth pop album, especially one by a side project from musicians as busy as Tamborello and Gibbard are.
