This would have been a better LP if the productions weren't so lavish. A prime example is I'm Someone Who Cares, a good ballad that is overpowered by strings and studio techniques Lie No. 2 suffers from the same disorder, and these are the two strongest cuts. A remake of Liz Lands' Keep Me is not as good as the original, both were released as singles and both stiffed Lands' version, however, deserved a better fate. Definitions LP, Album. Tamla Motown. S 734L. This is a great album by The Originals. Their 4th album on the Motown subsidiary, Soul. Includes the minor hit single I'm Someone Who Cares, and the Liz Lands cover Keep Me. Side 1, in my opinion, is very mellow and has contemporary covers of Bread's Make It With You which by the way is excellent . The Originals, often called Motown's best-kept secret, were a successful Motown R&B and soul group during the late 1960s and the 1970s, most notable for the hits Baby, I'm For Real, The Bells, and the disco classic Down To Love Town. Formed in 1966, the group originally consisted of baritone singer Freddie Gorman, tenorfalsetto Walter Gaines, and tenors C. Spencer and Hank Dixon and briefly Joe Stubbs. Ty Hunter replaced Spencer when he left to go solo in the early 1970s. They had all. A pretty decent soul vocal record, even though it seems to have no firm hand on the production. The long closing version of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" is fantastic, as is the light-funk "Lie No. 2". If only they hadn't put the theme song from "Exodus" on here... what a wet blanket to start an otherwise decent outing. But once you're past that, it's not bad.

This is a great album by The Originals. Their 4th album on the Motown subsidiary, Soul. Includes the minor hit single "I'm Someone Who Cares", and the Liz Lands cover "Keep Me". Side 1, in my opinion, is very mellow and has contemporary covers of Bread's "Make It With You" which by the way is excellent! Also, their rendition of "The Exodus Song". Original Jobete compositions, "The Rovin' Kind", and "I've Got A Need for You", that were also recorded by label mate David Ruffin. Side 2, is just as great as Side 1, yet more soulful. Beginning with "I'm Someone Who Cares", the standout of the album. Fan favorites "Lie No. 2", and the outstanding "Come Rain or Shine". The fellas take us to church on "Keep Me", originally done by Liz Lands in 1964. The album closes with Simon & Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water". This is a great buy and a must have, especially to Motown collectors like myself.. A+!!!
