The Beatle Inn was situated on Aucklands Little Queen Street now underneath the Downtown Centre. It was R18 anyone over 18 wasnt allowed in and the resident band was called The Merseymen. Members of the group included the pioneering rocknroll guitarist Bob Paris and a drummer called Jet Rink AKA Dylan Taite. The Merseymens recordings suggest that they mostly played rock and roll classics. On their 1964 album A Visit to Beatle Inn, Ill Get You is the only Beatles song they recorded. The Merseymen had the credentials to play the beat music required, as three of its members all hailed from England. Mike Leyton real name Mike Puddyfoot and Dave Moan were both from London, and drummer Jett Rink had also only recently arrived in the country. Jett Rink's real name was John Tait and later on he was to use the name Dylan Tait, when he became a television reporter.
