Short intro

You're a Big Boy Now is a soundtrack album by The Lovin' Spoonful, released in 1967, containing music from the Francis Ford Coppola film of the same name. Composed entirely by Spoonful member John Sebastian, it contains several songs performed by the band, as well as instrumental music from the film score. The album was re-released on CD along with What's Up, Tiger Lily, the Spoonful's soundtrack for the 1967 Woody Allen film. What's Up Tiger LilyYou're A Big Boy Now - The Lovin' Spoonful. The band consisted of John Sebastian vocals, autoharp, Zal Yanovsky guitar, Steve Boone bass and Joseph Campbell Butler drums. Yanovsky left the group in 1967 and was replaced by Jerry Yester, and Sebastian left the group in 1968. You're a Big Boy Now, 28 minutes and 9 seconds long, suffers from the same flaws as the previous soundtrack album but somehow manages to exacerbate these flaws. The songs are all very brief and very forgettable. They have nothing interesting that'll draw you in. Instead they'll make you want to hammer the skip button. A great portion of the songs sound much the same, the musical arrangements being the only minor difference. The few songs that actually do feature vocals aren't that much better. You're a Big Boy Now opens this soundtrack on a jolly note with hilarious lyrics. Well I don't know how but you're a big boy now, go on and take a bow, 'cuz you're a big boy now Good verse melody You know the girls are taking notice of you, they say your hair is getting curly too, so shave today you'll shave tomorrow as well, you're run by you and not a classroom bell The melody is really awesome I gotta admit. Yeah unquestionably best song on the album I know another band borrowed this melody though. I'm thinking early 70's. Dixieland Big Boy is jazzy marching band music. I don't care for this song
