Short intro

The Jazz Composer's Orchestra was an American jazz group founded by Carla Bley and Michael Mantler in 1965 to perform orchestral avant-garde jazz. Its origins lay in the Jazz Composers Guild, an organization founded by Bill Dixon which grew out of the series of 1964 concerts in New York, known as the October Revolution in Jazz and subsequent regular performance settings. A big band, formed by Bley and Mantler, became known as the Jazz Composers Guild Orchestra, which made its first record in April. Everything here is OK , what do you expect from a free jazz big band !
The Cecil Taylor"concerto" on Communications 11 on both sides C and D with Andrew Cyrille on drums sent me on the moon when I was still in my teens . Imagine the racket you got on headphones !! One of the most amazing Taylor / Cyrille performance ever heard with Silva, Cunningham and Reggie Johnson on bass which sound like Bill Dixon's concept.
Also Larry Corryell contribution is one of the nicest noise thing I heard , similar of G Dead's Feedback or VelvetU's WL/ WH ...... ghosh !
