Short intro

Bloodshot is the third studio album by American rock band The J. Geils Band. The album was released on April 12, 1973, by Atlantic Records. It was the breakthrough release for the band, reaching 10 on the Billboard 200 album chart in the United States, a peak that the band would not surpass until their 1981 multi-platinum album Freeze Frame. The single version of Give it to Me, which had a very different ending from the album version, reached 30 on the U. Billboard Hot 100 and 15 on the Cash. Bloodshot - The J. The album closes on the catchy Give It to Me, which was one of the earliest reggae-influenced tunes to crack the American Top 40. The album demonstrates how gifted frontman Peter Wolf was the blackest-sounding white belter in America in those days. And its obvious that all six band members had mad love affairs with the music that originated around the Mississippi Delta. Bloodshot The J. After criss-crossing the country countless times as both a headlining club band and an arena support act, The J. Geils Band finally hit the big leagues here on their first platinum-selling album. The entire 1973 effort is swathed in R&B, soul, and road-hardened rock n roll. Songs in album The J. Geils Band - Bloodshot 1973. The J. Geils Band - Ain't Nothin' But A House Party. The band sounds tighter, meaner, and funkier than on their first two releases, frontman Peter Wolf is looser and wilder than ever, and J. Geils positively rips things up on guitar. This newfound power could be down to the band blanketing the country and honing their craft in sweaty bars and concert halls. The positive response to their raw and alive live album Full House may have helped too. Listen free to The J.
