The Imperials are a 4 time Grammy winning American gospel music group and a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. They were founded in 1964 by Jake Hess and continue to perform today. The band had its genesis when long-time Statesmen Quartet member Jake Hess retired from that band on December 7, 1963. Hess wanted to start a new group recognized as king of the Southern gospel field and thought the Imperials would be a good moniker. Old Fashioned is a 2014 romance film directed and written by Rik Swartzwelder, who also stars opposite Elizabeth Ann Roberts. The film had a limited release in just three markets on February 6, 2015, with its major release over the Valentine's weekend that followed on 224 screens. Clay Walsh owns an antique shop where he repairs and restores furniture. Situated in a small Midwestern college town, he is known as a man with unusual convictions. Old Fashioned stars Elizabeth Roberts as Amber, a chipper enough gal who rides into Main Street in a US town with a cast on her arm, a pet cat and clothes that are peppy but none-too-revealing. She quickly finds a room above an antiques shop run by Clay Rik Swartzwelder, a sentient slice of Wonder Bread whose aforementioned sociopathic attitudes toward women like demanding Amber stand outside in the cold while he fixes her busted stove are meant to be kooky but sweet.
