The Icarus Line was an American post-hardcore band from Los Angeles, California. British newspaper The Guardian called them the greatest rock group of the 21st century. The band's roots started from a high school rock group Kanker Sores. Tragedy struck the band in 1997, when Tim Childs, drummer and close friend, was killed in a car crash shortly after recording their Pivot EP as Kanker Sores on Recess Records, and also songs for an aborted split 7 with Treadwell. The Icarus Line has created a masterful artistic achievement that can scarcely be listen to. The musical sweep is epic, highly orchestrated. The Line of Best Fit. Oct 5, 2015. All Things Under Heaven isn't perfect: after a startlingly strong first half, the quality of the material drops. As it does, it becomes increasingly difficult not to notice just how semi-endlessly long and repetitive some of these tracks are. In 1998 The Icarus Line formed with Joe Cardamone on vocals, Aaron North on guitar, Lance Arnao on bass, and Aaron Austin formerly of Naked Aggression on drums. Before even playing a single show, the band booked an extensive East Coast tour with Ink & Dagger. The Icarus Line played their first show at The Melody Bar in New Brunswick, New Jersey. On this first tour they sold an untitled demo tape, which consisted of the four Kanker Sores songs recorded in 1997 for the split release with Treadwell. In October 2015, the band released their eighth full-length album, All Things Under Heaven. The Icarus Line have been flying under most peoples radar for far too long. Maybe thats the way the best stuff gets made out of sight of expectation, in their small world, where amongst the weeds and dirt, inspiration follows, flourishes with the vitality of the psychedelic. Their blues are the bruises we all bare. Its no mistake the band reside in Los Angeles. They have created their own recording studio there called GangBangPark Studios. The title of the songs on, All Things Under Heaven are evocative enough in forming a visual representation of the music.
