Featuring better production than the debut album, Two Places at Once is a much tighter affair, with much happening throughout. It's side two, however, that makes this album worth having. The side-long Further Adventures of Nick Danger is a nearly perfect parody of a detective radio play, with sharp wordplay and interesting characters. The more fully developed nature of the piece makes the album worth repeated listening, which isn't the case with many. Album 1968 8 Songs. More By The Firesign Theatre. The second album by the Firesign Theatre begins with the story of Babe who, upon driving away in his new car, finds himself on a journey to discover the real America, ultimately ending up in a WWII movie called Babes in Khaki. Side two of the album introduces us to the hard boiled private detective Nick Danger, who takes us on a trip though L. s seamy underbelly where we meet some very familiar characters. I bought this Firesign Theatre record album when I was in high school in the mid 1970s. It became and continues to be my favorite comedy album. The fast-paced old-timey radio show throws so many puns and mind-bending societal references at you in a short time, that you MUST listen to it with ear-phone over and over again. When I was a child, my father and his brother used to listen to this record all the time. I thought it was sort of amusing then, but he insisted that it would be much funnier when I got older, and that it got funnier to him every time he heard it. I didn't understand that logic then. I get it now. Artist images. The Firesign Theatre. 8,594 listeners.
