Short intro

This is The Enid's second album, released on EMI Group Limited in 1977. A personal favorite of mine, you can find the prior album and the follow up Faerie Nonsense is The Enid's second album. It was released in 1977 by EMI and later re-released by The Enid in 1983 following its deletion from the EMI catalogue. Aerie Faerie Nonsense was recorded at Morgan Studios between August and September 1977 and released that year on EMI Records. EMI deleted it from their catalogue soon after. In 1983, frustrated by the unavailability of the album, The Enid reconstructed it so that they could re-release it by themselves. They re-recorded all the tracks. This is a poor relation of the original album from 1977. They have also mucked about with the track order and tweaked 'Fand' significantly. RJG has always said that he never seemed to get that track right and so the band's canon has several versions but, for me, they'll never beat the original studio version (although the 'Live at Hammersmith' version is just as good).
If you are ever going to buy a copy of 'Aerie Faerie Nonsense' make sure that you buy the original.

The CD version of "In the Region of the Summer Stars 1984" also has the statement "Recorded and Mixed at The Lodge Studio between 1984 and 1987".
I think that this is sloppy typesetting and the one was a copy of the other. The CD editions have bonus tracks recorded in the period 1984 to 1987 and this would suggest that the release year for the CD edition is 1987 or 1988 - I was an Enid fan at the time and 1987 seems about right to me. The LP versions were released in 1983 and 1984 so the release year here is correct.
