Short intro

Woman is the sixth studio album by the American rock band the Doors, released on April 19, 1971, on Elektra Records. It is the last to feature lead singer Jim Morrison during his lifetime due to his death three months after the album's release, though he would posthumously appear on the 1978 album An American Prayer. Even more so than its predecessors, the album is heavily influenced by blues. It was recorded without record producer Paul A. Rothchild after he fell out with the group over the. Woman - The Doors. The album's style is arguably the most blues rock -oriented of the band's catalogue. Following the departure of their record producer Paul A. Rothchild who dismissed the group's differing style as cocktail music around November 1970, the Doors and engineer Bruce Botnick began production on the album at The Doors Wor. The Doors. The sixth studio album and the final album with Jim Morrison in their lineup, L. Woman is by far The Doors' most blues-oriented. Released April 19th, 1971 through Elektra Records, the album peaked at the ninth spot on the Billboard 200. Morrisons poetic ardor is undiminished and his vocal performance is unwavering in its enthusiasm, while the group as a whole returned to their original blues rock roots. The seven-minute title track was a car-cruising classic that celebrated both the glamour and seediness of Los Angeles the other long cut, the brooding and jazzy Riders on the Storm . I quit because Id grown tired of dragging the Doors from one album to another, especially an unwilling Jim, and he had virtually dried up, shrugged Rothchild. Two out of three times, Jim would either not want to work, or would go into the studio drunk. He would intentionally disrupt thingsnever fruitfully. Youthful poet or no, Morrison remained a rock star in 1971, and the Doors were still one of the bigger bands in the industry - a status reflected by L. Woman 's Top 10 chart placement. Before the record's run was finished, the group would add a pair of Top 20 singles Love Her Madly and Riders on the Storm to their tally. The last official Doors studio album, L. Woman was still high on the charts when, like the actor out on loan of its closing track, Riders on the Storm, Jim Morrison died in a Paris bathtub in the summer of 1971. Via such tracks as The Changeling, Crawling King Snake, and the frothy, rollicking title track, the collection leaned heavily toward the blues-in particular, Morrison's boastful Lizard King brand of it. It was the winter of 1970-71 and The Doors had some battle scars from the past two years and they needed to find some peace and find the music once more.
