It's a bit strange that The Dickies should have a song on a soundtrack, and even moreso that it would only ever be released via this wonderful piece of strangeness. But here it is: the opening AND closing credits song from the marvelously twisted sci-fi-horror-comedy Killer Klowns From Outer Space, accompanied by some great additions done the way only The Dickies can.
Following the title track, we're given the vampire homage (complete with Dracula Lugosi samples) 'Booby Trap,' appearing just as it would on their next full-length release, Second Coming. On the flipside, first up is 'Magoomba,' in slightly shorter and considerably less loopy form than its reincarnation on Second Coming. After 'Magoomba' comes one of my favourites: 'Jim Bowie,' a tribute to the man, the knife and the times that made America. The whole affair wraps up with the made-to-be-covered-by-this-band Jetsons song 'Eep Opp Ork (Uh Uh)' (from the time when George masquerades as a space-age popstar), delivered in surprisingly faithful style with Leonard Phillips doing his best George Jetson.
Though this is only an EP, and it duplicates a couple songs from an album, no Dickies fan should be without this priceless bit of lunacy. Essential listening for the Dickies set.
