Although Dick Massey and Kenneth McCluskey have since formed their own band called The Commitments they are the only two original members to be in it. All of the other members went their separate ways after the film ended. Andrew Strong went solo, Glen Hansard went on to front The Frames and the girls pursued acting careers as well as remaining in music. This would seem to lend The Commitments some degree of authenticity and it does to a certain extent, as these guys can crank out familiar favorites without missing a step, but the description of working musicians suggests that there is some grit here, which there's not.
