Short intro
The English rock band The Beatles auditioned for Decca Records at Decca Studios in West Hampstead, north London on 1 January 1962. They were rejected by the label, who instead selected Brian Poole and the Tremeloes. Some of the songs recorded for the audition had been available as bootleg recordings but some songs were officially released on the Beatles rarities compilation Anthology 1 in 1995. Формируйте собственную коллекцию записей The Studios, West Hampstead, 1 January 1962 The Beatles' famous audition for Decca Records took place in London on New Year's Day in 1962. The historical significance of this tape is vast it illustrates where the Beatles were at this crucial juncture of their career. Less flatteringly, it illustrates how vastly they improved between the time of this audition and their first official album release, Please Please Me, 15 months later. In comparison, the sound here is thin and awkward, rife with tentative guitar phrases, nervous lead vocals, and stiff drumming by Pete Best, who was still in the band at this point. The Beatles famous audition for Decca Records took place in London on New Years Day in 1962. The session followed the labels A&R representative Mike Smiths attendance at a Cavern performance on 13 December 1961. The Beatles performance that night hadnt been strong enough to secure them a record deal, but the label was willing to offer them a session in their studios at 165 Broadhurst Gardens, West Hampstead, London. The way economics were in the record business then, if wed been sure of selling 3,000 copies, wed have been forced to record them, whatever sort of group they were. Dick Rowe. The Beatles' commercial test for Decca was a one of the first fruits of Brian Epstein's management and a huge opportunity for the young band. The recording took place on New Years Day 1962 at the Decca recording studio on Broadhurst Gardens in the London suburb of West Hampstead. The contract never came and Decca will forever be the label that turned down The Beatles. It has long been agreed that part of the reason for this was the quality of the session. 10 am on a freezing Monday morning is not the easiest time to rock and roll, especially if the night before had been New Years Eve. The Silver Beatles Historical Decca Audition Tape bootleg. All unofficial releases of these tapes have been sourced from these two vinyl LPs. The 2009 bootleg Historical Decca Audition Tape by Misterclaudel contained both tapes. Although most labels believed the tapes were fair game seeing as how they were made outside of a recording contract and they certainly werent owned by EMI, several releases were issued without the three LennonMcCartney songs so as to avoid royalties conflicts with Northern Songs.
